I have a confession to make: I’m obsessed with podcasts. It all started when I realized the tea of the Breakfast Club daily was starting to get a little stale, and I found myself wanting more. That coupled with the fact that I don’t typically wake up at the crack of dawn, meant I would miss half the show.

My obsession started innocently enough. I took a listen to an episode of Buzzfeed’s Another Round, hosted by two fabulous self-proclaimed bougie black girls, Tracy and Heben. I knew I was never going back after my fifth straight episode.

This content is too good to keep to myself y’all. I’m all about giving. So, here’s a quick list of the 5 Best Podcasts keep your feeds fresh all summer long.

1. Buzzfeed’s Another Round

Tracy and Heben are the friends you wish you’d met your Freshman year in college. They’re cool, they’re funny, and they have absolutely NO filter. At times Buzzfeed's website may read as a little tone deaf, or reaching, but this podcast is the real deal. Their rise to the top has been fast and well deserved. They’re unashamedly themselves, and their authentic quirky black girl attitudes are a breath of fresh air in a world of super stale media.

2. The Read

Kid Fury and Crissle really don’t for your opinions on what they think or say, and it's that no f*cks given persona that keeps ups coming back for more. They are as intelligent as they are petty, making their podcast feel like you’re sitting in the living room of that aunty who’s constantly telling the juicy family secrets. It’s a running commentary on all things black culture, with the best kind of commentary.

3. Call Your Girlfriend

I related to this podcast on a spiritual level since me and my bff live exactly 536.1 miles apart. The plight of the long distance bestie is real y’all (shout out to Kel!). Ann and Aminatou will make will make you feel more intelligent simply for listening to them, as they tackle issues in intersectionality with ease. They discuss everything from menstruation to mansplaining, and they do it well! If you're still on the fence about this one, maybe Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will change your mind. Word is, she’s a fan.

4. 2 Dope Queens

Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams two comediennes in New York who’s incredibly funny stories will have you in tears with the kind of gut-busting laughter you only want to do in private. I discovered this podcast via Twitter first, and I’m almost sad I missed out. It’s for the inner geek in all of us. These women delve into Fan Conferences and dissect a Marvel movie like you wouldn’t believe. If you’re more excited about Game of Thrones than Insecure, this podcast is definitely worth a listen.
