One technique is to saturate the hair with water and conditioner before you go swimming. The idea is that once the hair has absorbed the water and conditioner, it is more difficult for it to absorb the chlorinated or salt water. After you are done playing in the water, be sure to cleanse and condition your hair. If you were in water treated with chlorine, be sure to use a shampoo designed to remove chlorine.
