Get Shinier, Defined Curls with THIS Ingredient!

No lederhosen here, but did you know the German tradition could also be great for your curls? Oktoberfest brings together food, fun, and beer--but beer can also help bring limp, dull curls back to life!

Your typical beer is made of yeast, water, barley, and hops--which contains natural oils and antioxidants essential for healthy hair. The maltose and sucrose sugars in beer help to add body and shine and reduce frizz, and B-vitamins help condition and repair dry, damaged curls. Before you toss back this season's pumpkin ale, try a beer rinse for softer, shinier, bouncier, defined hair.

You'll need 1 -2 bottles of non-alcoholic beer, depending on your length (O'Doul's is a popular brand).

  • Open the bottle(s) and let it sit, until the beer is flat (up to 3 hours or overnight).
  • Wash and condition your hair normally, then pour beer over small sections of hair--or pour beer into a spray bottle and saturate each section.
  • Work through your stands to make sure hair is coated, then let it sit for 3-5 minutes before conditioning and rinsing out with cold water.

Don't believe me? Just watch.
