For women with curves who don't see themselves represented daily in the media.
Actress and star of Orange Is The New Black, Danielle Brooks has always been a woman with curves. "I have been plus-size since I was in high school and started developing like any other girl," she explains in an interview with SELF. But now she wants to use her voice in a new project designed to share body-positive images of curvy girls.
The project, titled 67% Project is a joint partnership between Getty Images and Refinery 29. The name's title reflect the percentage of women in America who are considered plus-size, or size 14 or larger. It's goal is to create a series of stock images that features plus-size women.
Refinery 29 highlights, that despite the fact that majority of women in America are considered plus-size, plus-size women make up no more than 2 percent of figures represented in the media.
"It's always been heartbreaking growing up...to not see myself. And now I am that girl I wanted to see, and I can't wait to see what it does for the next generation of women that are coming up."
The 27-year old actress Brooks, better known as Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on OITNB will serve as the guest creative director for the 67% Project.
"I was not the only plus-size woman, the only person of color, not the only one with natural hair, not the only dark-skinned woman," says Brooks.
