When it comes to growing your edges back, the key is often to examine different aspects of your routine. It can be impossible to restore edges back to where you want them if your routine is damaging. If you are constantly wearing styles that pull your edges too tight, or applying harsh products to edges, these tips won’t help much in the long run. Take a close look at your everyday routine and ask yourself what role you play in the damage of your edges.

1. Stop wearing tight styles
It should come as no surprise that this is number one for tips on growing your edges back. When hair is pulled too taut, it puts extra stress on those fragile strands near the hairline. This will lead to breakage. When focusing on your edges, look for looser styles or wear your hair free.

2. Stop touching your edges so much!
The more you manipulate or play with your hair, especially the fragile area of your edges, the more prone they are to breakage. This means no brushing, combing, or touching with your fingers.

3. If you do need to touch up your edges with product while working on growth, it is important to do it a certain way
Use your fingers and apply moisturizer sparingly, and then wrap in a silk scarf to help edges soak in moisture. This will help eliminate how often you need to touch edges because they will get and retain more moisture this way.

4. Use oils to speed up the process
While you want to stay low manipulation in this area of your hair, applying certain oils can help with growth. A few good ones for growth are jojoba oil, peppermint oil, castor oil, and rosemary oil.  You want to apply them gently to avoid damaging edges further.

5. Sleep in a silk scarf or head wrap
If you aren’t already doing so, your hair, not just your edges, are paying a price. When you sleep, it’s only natural for your hair to pull on the pillowcase. Wrap your hair at night and you won’t have to worry about this. It will also help preserve your edges.

Growing back edges takes time and perseverance. Be patient when caring for your strands and they will pay you back with beautiful, healthy curls!
