If you would love to get away with your girls but it isn’t going to happen in summer ‘17, don’t stress. You can live through Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish. How, though?

Well, these ladies are bringing their beauty and humor to the movie Girls Trip, the black girl version of The Hangover, which will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, July 21st.

Focused on four lifelong friends who reconnect after several years, the Universal Pictures film is produced by Will Packer of Almost Christmas and the Think Like a Man and Ride Along franchises. The comedy is directed by Malcolm D. Lee, director and producer of The Best Man, The Best Man Holiday and Barbershop: The Next Cut; and the screenplay is by Black-ish creator-writer Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver, writer on The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl and Survivor’s Remorse.

According to the film’s website, the besties travel to New Orleans for the Essence Festival, where “sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.”
The official trailer for the film was released this morning, confirming that it has the potential to be epic.

Larenz Tate, Kate Walsh (13 Reasons Why), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar) also co-star in the flick, which is fitting for a memorable ladies night out.

Based on the movie’s all-star cast, top notch creatives and storyline, I’m excited to spend $11 on a ticket.
What do you think about the trailer? Do you plan on seeing Girls Trip in theaters during its premiere?
