According to a tweet sent out by Netflix about an hour ago, three new specials exclusively to Netflix are officially in the works. While there are no official release dates yet, they are expected to release sometime next year.
Variety reports Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce an original special for Netflix. Two other unreleased projects will come from Chappelle’s vault — one produced out of the Austin City Limits venue, the other from a performance at the Hollywood Palladium.
“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of original documentary and comedy. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”
Chappelle's November 12th special on Saturday Night Live reported record-high ratings and averaged a 3.15 rating/15 share in adults 18-49 and totaled 8.691 million total viewers. SNL reached its highest ratings since December 2013.
